Eidon Ultra Widefield Imaging

What is Eidon Ultra Widefield Imaging?

Eidon Ultra Widefield Imaging is a state-of-the-art retinal imaging system designed to capture high-resolution, true-color images of up to 200° of the retina in a single shot. Utilizing confocal scanning technology, it provides exceptional detail and clarity, even in the peripheral retina, without the need for pupil dilation in most cases. This ultra-widefield view allows for earlier detection and better monitoring of retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and age-related macular degeneration. With its combination of wide coverage and image quality, Eidon enhances diagnostic accuracy and improves clinical workflow in ophthalmic care.

Dr. Berger and Dr. Easley strongly recommend Eidon Ultra-Widefield imaging as an integral part of your eye exam. The Eidon imaging provides clear views of over 80% of the retina and helps your doctor better evaluate your visual health without the need for dilation.

Many eye conditions can develop silently, without any noticeable symptoms in the early stages. You may not experience changes in your vision until the problem has progressed. However, a comprehensive retinal exam can detect serious issues such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, as well as signs of systemic health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure. Early detection with Eidon retinal imaging is key to protecting your vision and overall health.

An Eidon Ultra-Widefield retinal image provides:

  • Detailed information about the health of your eyes without the need for dilation.

  • An overview of the retina, giving your doctor a more detailed view than can be achieved with other traditional tools.

  • The opportunity for you to view and discuss the Eidon images with your doctor during your exam.

  • A permanent record for your medical file, which enables your doctor to make important comparisons if problems arise at a future examination.

PLEASE NOTE: Dr. Berger and Dr. Easley strongly believe that Eidon imaging is an essential part of a comprehensive eye examination. However, most vision plans do not cover Eidon imaging which means that you may be responsible for an additional fee.
